Hebron Books

Founded in 1992 in London, Ontario, Hebron Books merged with Harvest House Atlantic in June 2017. Hebron Books distributes the true life-stories of transformed men and women, which are sent to over 120 prisons, English and French, across Canada and into communities. Your support truly makes a difference in the lives of inmates and hurting people who we serve.

Ernie & Sheile Hollands

About Us

In 1992, Hebron Books was started by former inmate Ernie Hollands and his wife, Sheila. Ernie spent 25 years in prison, where, in 1975 Ernie asked Jesus into his life and was radically transformed in his cell. After his release in 1976, God used Ernie to bring this life-changing message of Christ’s freedom to those inside and outside prison.

History

Hebron was a city of refuge in the Old Testament where sinners would find safety from their accusers. Hebron Ministries started publishing true-life stories of inmates whose lives have been transformed by Jesus Christ. There are 11 different titles within the collection about lives completely changed by God’s unconditional love.

Shipping Hope

Thousands of books are shipped each year to over 120 prisons across Canada. Boxes are packed with the help of volunteers, staff, friends, and Recovery residents. Each box is taken to the Post Office for mailing. It is a labor of love, and even the Post Office staff engages in what we do.

Connections

After the books are read by inmates, we often receive letters from some of the inmates. We can connect them with a Prison Ministry that offers free bible study courses or topical studies. We also match each inmate with a suitable volunteer who will correspond with the inmate, becoming their spiritual mentor.
