Meet Landon.
Landon describes his childhood as “rough”. His parents both battled addiction, and as a result, Landon entered foster care at a very young age. At the age of 5, Landon’s father took him out of foster care to live with him. He remained with his dad until the age of 12 and was then entered back into foster care. It was during this period that Landon started experimenting with alcohol, marijuana, and later, cocaine.
Landon was incarcerated for the first time at the age of 13. For the next few years, Landon spent his time divided between group homes and prison. He spent 1400 days incarcerated between the ages of 13-18. At the age of 18, Landon met his girlfriend, and they became engaged. During this relationship Landon became a father, welcoming a daughter and son to his family. Unfortunately, as the relationship with his fiancé deteriorated, his addiction was progressing, ultimately leading to the end of the relationship.
Following the breakup, Landon began using cocaine daily. Landon eventually hit rock bottom and found himself hospitalized. He knew at this moment that death was imminent if he didn’t get help. Landon entered the door of our Recovery Program in September.
Addiction cost Landon his fiancé, his kids, his job and resulted in many broken relationships along the way. Landon thanks Harvest House for helping restore these relationships. While enrolled in Recovery, he says he has learned how to recognize and take ownership of his past actions. Landon has experienced genuine love while here and knows he has an incredible support system.
Landon is thankful to have restored his relationship with his father and is hoping to also rebuild a relationship with his mom. He is communicating with his kids and plans to help his daughter celebrate her 8th birthday in a few weeks. Landon is currently celebrating 5 months sobriety, completing his GED and optimistic about his future. We are incredibly proud of Landon’s accomplishments and can’t wait to see him welcome the next chapter of his life.
