Meet Lindsay.
Entering our Addiction Recovery Program was one of the best decisions Lindsay made in her life after 2 years of unhealthy living. We are so proud of her transformation!
Since Lindsay took the step towards recovery, she is now 9 days away from her 9-months in the program and has become registered to nurse once again.
Lindsay grew up in Miramichi, where she lived until 2012 when she went to University in Bathurst. She spent the next 5 years obtaining her Bachelor of Nursing and then moved herself to Saint John where she secured a role as a Registered Nurse in a psychiatric facility and continued helping people for another 2 years.
Around this time, things began to change in Lindsay’s life. She found out that her father, who was always her best friend and biggest supporter, was diagnosed with cancer. At the same time, she began seeing someone who isolated her from her friends and family. Lindsay slipped into a depression and started burning out.
Lindsay remembers saying that she needed to see a doctor, but her boyfriend had convinced her that what she needed was to start taking Meth with him. For the next 2 years, Lindsay was a functioning addict in an unhealthy relationship. It all came to a crash when, in November of 2021, her father passed away, and Lindsay was no longer able to work. She left her boyfriend’s house, began sleeping in her car and tried to avoid criminal activity, but found herself surrounded by people involved in that lifestyle.
In February of 2024, she walked into the Harvest House Atlantic shelter. She shares: “I was greeted in the office by kind people who were encouraging and had no judgment of me. Those first couple of nights I slept on the couch in the women’s shelter and had the best sleep I’d had in months.”
In May of 2024 Lindsay entered into our Addiction Recovery program. Within weeks, she gave her life over to God and began seeing her life transform. A relationship she credits with saving her life. She has new Hope for the future and recognizes that God is the only constant in her life.
With all charges against her since dropped, and prior challenges with authority behind her, she reapplied for her Nursing certification and has now become registered to nurse once again.
Lindsay is 9 days away from her 9-months in the program, and although she has yet to realize her full plan ahead of her, she has no fear of the unknown. She feels bright and hopeful.
