Tim grew up in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He began struggling with substance abuse around the age of 12, which escalated during his mid-teens. At 19, Tim moved to Moncton, where he faced similar struggles. Later, around the age of 35, a difficult life event led to homelessness and declining mental health. Though he found brief periods of stability, ongoing issues with gambling and personal struggles contributed to recurring bouts of homelessness over the next two decades.

In 2023, while living on the streets, Tim developed a heart condition that motivated him to seek housing and build a more stable life. After spending 18 months in a shelter, he secured an apartment. Although subsequent personal challenges resulted in another period of homelessness, Tim was able to secure a spot in Harvest House community-based housing in 2025.

Tim has been living in one of our community houses for the past nine months and has become a valued member of our home, organization, and broader community. Known for his welcoming humor and deep compassion for others, he greets everyone with a smile. Tim is a graduate of the WESC program and remains actively involved in social inclusion initiatives throughout Harvest House. He has a knack for bicycle repair, loves cooking, and hopes to further his culinary education. An outdoor enthusiast, Tim enjoys biking and connecting with community members. Despite numerous hardships and setbacks along his journey, he consistently continues to show up for himself and those around him.
